Global Xchange - Volunteer in a Developing Country
Xchange Scotland are delighted to be able to inform you of a new programme being run jointly by VSO and the British Council, Global Xchange. Global Xchange is a fully funded and supported programme that allows young people, 18-25, the chance to volunteer for three months in the UK and three months in a developing country.
Participants join a group that is composed of around 18 volunteers, split between the two nationalities and will spend 3 months volunteering in a UK community, before heading off to a partner country for more of the same.
The programme involves funding and support and participants will receive a top class training and preparation programme that will be delivered by the folks on the Global Xchange team. Partner countries for projects in March 09 are Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Egypt, Syria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Mongolia.
Global Xchange are keen to hear from potential volunteers from a whole range of backgrounds and neither level of education or experience should be seen as a barrier to participation. The next deadline is 15th October for projects starting in March 09. Please contact Sarah for more info - sarah.hitchcock@britishcouncil.org
